Two new 20 and 30-minute online training modules support both new and experienced EV drivers and protect vulnerable road users.
In response to client demand, TTC Group has designed and launched two new eLearning modules to bring easily accessible and cost-effective help to businesses making the switch to electric vehicles (EVs). The trusted training and compliance expert has designed a module for drivers new to electric driving, and a second, shorter module, to support existing EV drivers. Many TTC customers undertake on-road practical driver training with an expert
TTC trainer to help them get to know their EV, but a more time-efficient solution was required. The new 30 minute ‘Electric Vehicle Familiarisation’ module includes the ‘need to know’ content for those driving an EV for the first time, including safety considerations, charging and how to maximise range. This module takes a maximum of 30 minutes to complete, ensuring it is both time and cost-efficient for businesses and their drivers
The second module, ‘So you think you know your EV?’ taking the user 20 minutes to complete, uses challenging and competitive gamification to help existing EV drivers achieve maximum possible range from their EV and consider safety of themselves and other road users. It also familiarises them with precautions they should adopt to protect vulnerable road users when travelling at speeds below 11mph.
“These two modules came about due to client demand for a cost-effective training solution for their drivers moving over to an EV,” commented Andy Wheeler, Training Product Manager for TTC Group. “Businesses are prioritising reducing carbon emissions through greening their fleets, but even those drivers who are keen to switch to electric often need some help in getting to know the new driving experience and requirements. Range anxiety is a big blocker for would-be EV-drivers, and the unknowns of charging, costs and maintenance doesn’t help. These courses will help get more fleet drivers on board with electric much sooner, quickly dispelling myths and assuaging concerns.”
