Richard Boothroyd, Finance Director, TTC Group received the BVCA “Excellence in ESG 2020” award on behalf of TTC Group in recognition from the private equity and venture capital industry, how our organisation has managed to adapt and continue to grow throughout the current pandemic.
During 2017, TTC became the sole organisation (from 400 potential investment opportunities) to gain backing by Birmingham-based Palatine Private Equity LLP, who’s corporate business is focussed on sustainable growth. Since gaining the support of Palatine Private Equity LLP, Richard Boothroyd, Finance Director, TTC Group, has continued to work with Palatine’s Partners and Palatine’s ESG Manager, Stephanie Wall, to develop our strategy and commitment to Environmental, Social and corporate Governance (ESG).
TTC Group received the “Excellence in ESG” award (portfolio category) from the British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (BVCA), whose Responsible Investment Awards are Europe’s only awards that recognise and celebrate outstanding Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices within private equity and venture capital. The BVCA recognise:
“The importance of ESG and Responsible Investment has never been more pertinent for the private equity and venture capital industry. The spread of the COVID-19 pandemic has led to ESG issues taking on new shapes and has reinforced the need to place climate change, health and safety, and other important environmental, social and governmental issues at the heart of the recovery plan.”
Richard received the “Excellence in ESG 2020” award as part of the BVCA’s Summit 2020 event, which due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, took place as a 2-day virtual summit, expertly facilitated online through a series of dynamic, interactive live experiences, supported by a wealth of on-demand intelligence and remote technologies.
BVCA kindly shared their reasoning behind selecting TTC Group for the portfolio category of the ESG award:
“The judges applauded TTC’s commitment to utilising Palatine’s six sustainability pillars. They have adopted a holistic approach to ESG, and it is clear that Palatine has had, and is continuing to have, a very positive influence over the direction of the business.”
Upon receiving the award, Richard Boothroyd (as pictured), Finance Director, TTC Group said:
“Because of COVID-19, our focus has moved away from our environmental impact and onto our people this year. That is not to say that TTC has not been complacent about environmental efficiency, and in some ways we’ve had an environmental bonus as a result of a huge reduction in travel, as well as longer-term reductions in our physical footprint.”
“With the majority of our staff either working from home or being furloughed, our organisation has really had to focus on the mental and physical wellbeing of all of TTC’s employees. We’ve kept in frequent contact through briefings and online social events and have been using our online learning platform to do a weekly check-in to gauge how well staff are coping with isolation.”
“We’ve used this to start interventions in cases where individuals have shown signs of needing help or additional support and we continue to monitor staff wellbeing very closely.”
