Rules for all types of road users will be updated in The Highway Code to improve the safety of people walking, cycling and riding horses.

The changes follow a public consultation on a review of The Highway Code to improve road safety for people walking, cycling and riding horses. This ran from July to October 2020, and received more than 20,000 responses from the public, businesses and other organisations. Most people who responded were in favour of all the changes.

The changes will be made to The Highway Code from Saturday 29 January 2022.

Here is the government website which succinctly highlights the 8 changes that you need to know about.

And please see this informative engaging video from Martin Starkey Product Development Manager TTC, Licence Bureau and Business Driver highlighting the changes to the Highway code, that a lot of people have no idea about.
