TTC has gained approval to deliver all Drink Drive courses using online Virtual Classrooms throughout England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland, in response to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and the Northern Ireland Executive have responded to the current COVID-19 crisis by approving TTC to deliver online Drink Drive courses by Virtual Classrooms, throughout the UK.

This consistent approach enables TTC to continue delivering Drink Drive schemes throughout the UK, educating people about alcohol and its effects, encouraging people to make more informed and safer life choices, leading to a reduction in reoffending.

Previously, there were different rules for each country, which required a combination of classroom and online participation to complete the course.

Tim Ribton, National Manager for Police and Court Referred Offender Education, said:

“It is a welcomed relief to finally see all the Governments that make up the UK allowing the Drink Drive Rehabilitation Scheme and Courses for Drink Drive Offences to be delivered online in virtual classrooms. This is an excellent decision, as it allows TTC to continue delivering behavioural change programmes to offenders, whilst helping to minimise the risk of COVID 19 transmission.”

As the UK’s largest provider of Drink Driving courses, TTC is the only organisation to be appointed by the Department for Transport and the Department for Infrastructure, for Drink Drive course delivery throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

TTC has been successfully delivering the Drink Drive Rehabilitation Scheme (DDRS) and Courses for Drink Drive Offences for over 25 years. By completing a DDRS course, the attendee can reduce their driving ban by up to 25%, for example, taking a 12-month driving ban down to 9 months.

The scheme also supports offenders to recognise the problems associated with drink driving and to take personal responsibility for, and to address their behaviour in relation to drinking and driving.
